New open-access book published by Springer: Assessing Progress in Decarbonizing Spain’s Building Stock

Springer has published the open-access book Assessing Progress in Decarbonizing Spain’s Building Stock: Indicators and Data Availability, edited by Belinda López-Mesa (University of Zaragoza) and Xabat Oregi (University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU).

The book is one of the main outcomes of the LocalREGEN research project, which investigated the development and application of indicators for monitoring building renovation and the decarbonization of the Spanish building stock.

The publication addresses one of the key challenges in the transition towards a climate-neutral European building stock: how to monitor the effectiveness of building renovation policies and measure progress towards decarbonization through indicators and reliable data.

Against the background of the evolving European framework for monitoring building renovation, the book examines the availability and quality of data in Spain, identifies current limitations and areas for improvement, and explores innovative approaches based on emerging technologies to enhance building-stock information.

Published within Springer’s Digital Innovations in Architecture, Engineering and Construction series, the volume brings together contributions from researchers from different institutions and is available Open Access, providing free access to the complete book.
