GIA strengthens its interdisciplinary connections through I3A

In May 2021, several members of the research group, then known as GIA – Grupo de Investigación en Arquitectura, applied to join the Aragón Institute for Engineering Research (I3A) at the University of Zaragoza. This step complemented the group’s existing affiliation with the Institute of Heritage and Humanities (IPH).

Having members affiliated with both IPH and I3A became an important feature of the group’s interdisciplinary identity, creating connections with two complementary research environments: heritage and the humanities, on the one hand, and engineering and technology, on the other. This dual affiliation strengthens the group’s capacity to address the built environment by integrating technical, environmental, social and cultural perspectives.

In 2023, GIA adopted its current name, Built4Life Lab, maintaining and further developing these interdisciplinary connections.
