Javier Tobías González is PhD candidate under a predoctoral fellowship at the Built4Life Lab, University of Zaragoza (Spain).
He holds a Bachelor’s (2014) and a Master’s degree (2016) in Architecture from the University of Zaragoza, as well as a European Postgraduate Master (2019) in Urbanism from ETSAB–Barcelona & TU Delft.
He has developed a professional career committed to social sustainability, working for more than four years on advocacy and research projects related to housing renovation and energy efficiency, with particular attention to vulnerable households. He has also contributed to national discussions on sustainable renovation policies, including participation in the CONAMA Foundation’s committee on climate-friendly building renovation and in the technical working groups of the Long-Term Strategy for Energy Renovation in Spain (ERESEE). He is pursuing his PhD part-time while combining his research activity with his professional work at ECODES.
Research focus: His research addresses building renovation and housing vulnerability, exploring how policy frameworks and design strategies can promote not only fairer and more sustainable renovation practices but also green employment.
